About Me
Thank you for visiting my website, I realise it’s tricky deciding who might be in the best position to help so this information here is for you. Formerly President of the British Thyroid Association, I am a Consultant Endocrinologist in private practice within several London clinics.
Prior to this I was a Consultant Physician and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Diabetes and Endocrinology at the Royal Free Hampstead and a Consultant Endocrinologist at the North Middlesex Hospital NHS Trust. I am also a published author of Thyroid Disease (The Facts)
My training in general medicine and endocrinology was completed at NHS posts in the West Midlands, North East England and North Staffordshire and included clinical responsibilities for the development of endocrinology and diabetes services.

Patient Feedback
“I found your name on the internet and was so relieved to find a doctor I could see without a gp referral. For several years I had been feeling ill and tried to find a diagnosis. It was fortuitous indeed because you listened to my list of symptoms and arranged a range of tests that ultimately saved my life.
When the test results arrived you wrote a letter indicating I needed urgent attention and this undoubtedly led to a diagnosis of cancer of the caecum. After a right sided hemicolectomy there was no sign of any metastases in lymph nodes despite stage 3 cancer. I have thoroughly enjoyed the last 2 years of life and hope there will be more to come. I can’t thank you enough Mr Vanderpump, you were absolutely marvellous!”
Areas of special interest
My main area of expertise is thyroid disease but my clinical practice includes all aspects of Diabetes and Endocrinology.
I frequently see referrals and manage some of the less frequently occurring conditions such as thyroid cancer; pituitary conditions such as acromegaly; and adrenal disorders including Addison’s disease, plus calcium and bone disorders.

Teamwork
You will not only benefit from my own expertise and experience but, where required, by the skills of carefully chosen multi-disciplinary teams including Radiologists, Pathologists, Neurosurgeons, Surgeons and Physicians. I also have access to Dietitians, Diabetes Specialist Nurses and specialist nurse support for endocrinology.
Endocrine disorders can be complicated and far reaching so these multi-disciplinary teams include:
The acute and general medical team at the Physicians’ Clinic led by founding partner Dr Paul Glynne
The Endocrine Multidisciplinary Team at the Cromwell Hospital led by Professor Fausto Palazzo
The Centre for Reproduction and Genetic Health in Great Portland Street led by Mr Paul Serhal
The Fertility Treatment Team at the Lister Fertility Clinic under Dr James Nicopoullos
The London Oncology Centre with colleagues specialising in pancreatic tumours and new immunotherapies
